The Common Review welcomes letters from our readers. Direct all correspondence to the editor at the address below or to tcr@greatbooks.org. Letters may be edited for length and style. Please include your name, postal address, and e-mail address when writing.
SUBMISSIONS
Direct all nonfiction manuscripts to the editor at the address below. Submissions should abide by the following guidelines:
1. All typed, paginated, double-spaced, on one side with a 12-point font (preferably Times New Roman) submitted via email (as an attachment only—not in the body of an email) or compact disc in RTF or Microsoft Word.
2. Include author name, title of article or submission, and contact information including address, email, and telephone number.
3. Provide a brief, 3 to 4-sentence, author bio describing yourself and your accomplishments.
4. Provide quote attributions or page numbers with a “works cited” page at the end of the article.
5. Include all referenced material when possible; i.e. photocopies of articles or books quoted, URLs of material quoted from the internet, etc.
We follow the Chicago Manual of Style. Submissions unaccompanied by a stamped, self-addressed envelope will not be returned. No unsolicited poetry or fiction manuscripts, please. We are also interested in queries from our readers about potential new stories and feature articles and welcome those queries by fax or e-mail. INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Qualified applicants are invited to apply for the position of intern. Strong writing and editing skills essential; experience with college newspaper or literary magazine publications preferred. Responsibilities may include combinations of the following: participation in planning, developing, and editing articles; writing copy; assisting in design and production tasks; organizing and administering the marketing, subscription, and membership plans for The Common Review and adult programs of the Great Books Foundation overall. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Quark, Photoshop, and/or Web design a plus.
Two four-month internships will be awarded to qualified candidates for summer and fall 2008.
